Thanksgiving, The Power of LOVE in Action

It was the day before I was leaving for my second trip to Uganda. My dear friend, who sponsors a woman in Bunga-Love Project, texted me and asked if she could send a few things to her sponsored family, Teopista and her children. I texted her back and said, “Yes, just make it light. I’ve only got 50 pounds I can carry.” *SMILE*

She left a bag full of things on my door step. Simple things. Nothing extravagant.

Flip flops

Ring suckers

Coloring books

Color crayons

A ball and a little purse for Teopista’s children

My dear friend (she wouldn’t wanted to be named) included a sweet note letting Teopista know her love for her and that these things were from God, to thank Him. It was He who had provided these things for her.

While in Uganda we had the honor of handing Teopista these items from her sponsor.

I looked at her and said, “Teopista, your sponsor has sent you some gifts.”  Teopista fell to her knees and lifted her hands high in praise to Jesus.

Beginning with this THANKSGIVING day, following with the day after and the day after that one, and the day after that one. . . may we be like this precious woman, Teopista. . .

Thanking God for the simple gifts He’s given to us. More times than not, it’s these simple gifts that are the ones we overlook, take for granted, and fail to even acknowledge as gifts from God. Most of the time, these “simple” gifts are really the most precious gifts in our life.

May we know that these gifts are from Him.

May we give Him the praise and thanksgiving for all that He has done for us.

May we raise our arms high and totally abandon our hearts, being in awe of Him who gave it ALL.

May we LOVE others as Jesus has loved us, “Greater LOVE has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

The “simple” gifts I’m thanking God for today:

The sound of the door opening as my son gets home from work.

The sound of the laughter of my oldest daughter.

Cuddles from my baby girl.

The embrace and warm hugs from my husband.

Phone calls from my Mama and Daddy.

My husband’s parents who love me like their own.

Thoughtful friends to share life with.

The gift of having sisters.

What will you be giving thanks to God for today?
